|
|
Hi,
Has anybody gone through the process of getting their tarjeta sanitaria (medical card)?...Ive read different reports on how to do it on the net!
I just went autonomo so I pay my own social security. I think that Im supposed to go to my local medical centre (ambulataria) with a form to apply for the tarjeta but where do I get the form???
Thanks in advance for any answers |

Can't quite remember where I had to get it all sorted out, but what I did was just to go to my local medical centre and they told me everything I needed and exactly where to go and it was pretty easy (just remember to bring a good book for all the waiting in line you'll need to do) |

Thanks Moore,
I could have written a good book let alone read one in the lines for all the different forms, tarjetas. I guess this is just one of the prices I have to pay for one euro caas, tortilla and sunshine in November.
If anyone remembers where they got the form to give to the medical centre for the tarjeta I would be much obliged....it would save me (and others reading this) at least one long wait........anyway back to my book chapter 10 |

Are you working there legally? The information below is only for EU citizens...
I had to go to the town hall to get my empadronamiento, which said my address and that I was a resident in the town. I think all I needed for that was a copy of my rental contract, and maybe proof of employment, but I'm not sure about that bit.
Then, I took a copy of the empadronamiento (they gave me about 4 I think) to the medical centre which was the correct one for my address. They gave me a temporary card, and then sent me out a lovely plasticky one about 3 months later.
I did the medical centre registration thing on the same day that I actually desperately needed a doctor, and they registered me and then whisked me into a patient's room immediately. Very efficient, although, yes, there were long queues..
Good luck!

Thanks lozwich,
Ill try the town hall (wherever that is) and bring my rental contract and Ill let people reading know how I got on. I am legal...I just went autonomo so I have the receipts to show Ive paid my social securiy.
Like I say Ill try over the next few days and let those interested know how I got on.
Walk on! |

In the town I lived, there was this thing called a SAC (no idea what that stands for) but it was like the customer service bit of the town hall. Everyone knew where the SAC was, so maybe you could find some helpful local and ask? My town was small (abouit 60,000) so maybe in a bigger town it might be a bit hard to find.
Good luck!
