Back in November 2005, this teacher lost the ARC it had when it had to surrender the coveted document back to the school from which it had resigned.
In December poster went to Manila (Philippines) and acquired a 60 day visa.
This time around, though, the TECO Office in Manila has refused to issue a 60 day visa, or even a 30 day one. The poster gave 1950 pesos to the office, but was told a few days later that no visa would be issued, because they had no copy of the ARC - hardly surprising since this teacher had already surrendered the document to the school upon resignation!
Further, this teacher is no longer on speaking terms with the school from which it had resigned, and requesting the cancelled ARC document would not be possible from here, in Manila. In short, no ARC cancelled document, no visa...
The officer dealing with the request said vaguely that since my original 10 month multiple entry visa was in the passport, it 'should be possible for you to get back into Taiwan without a new visa' - but when asked if the teacher wold have any problems re-entering the country without a visa, the officer was not sure, either way.
In summation, can one re-enter the country without a current visa, and does one get an entry visa upon arrival in Taipei (30 day?) - and can that visa be prolonged?
Poster is currently studying Chinese language at a University in Taichung, and has paid for the next term of study (March to May 31) and is currently on Chinese New Year Holiday.
Thanks for any information.
