I am just wondering what the deal is with working in a school known as a Buxiban or not - I cannot even find out exactly what it is! Please let me know what this is and what the difference is between Buxiban and non-Buxiban schools. Thank you for your help! |

A buxiban is a privately owned teaching institution, probably what we would call a tutorial school back home. There are two main types of buxiban - wenli buxibans and dwanqi buxibans. The schools that most foreigners teach in a short term buxibans or dwanqi buxibans. They are short term as the courses only run for two or three months.
Non-buxiban schools would include universities, private and government run mainstream schools, and international schools.
Probably 85% of foreign English teachers teach in buxibans. |
