Hong Kong Education Provider is an unprofessional set up. As someone has already pointed out- there is no address or phone number provided. This should be an early warning, but I have also been in contact with someone who has had experience with this company, and it really should be avoided at all costs. Hong Kong is a wonderful city but you need to be under a body which is professional, and one which you can trust.

Yep, I've heard an awful lot about this company now to stay away. It's a shame, because Hong Kong is a wonderful city and companies like this one ruin it for the lot. The only way potential teachers know about these things is if people warn them ahead of time. By the time the teacher gets there it is too late and he or she is stuck in a bad situation.

WHat is so wrong with them? Does anyone have any facts about them other than just hearsay? I have been offered a job with them in August. I would like to know a little more about them.

I guess it all depends on what you are looking for in a teaching job. I personally dont think that 12,000 HKD/mo. is a good salary. Secondly, this outfit makes no effort to secure working visas before arrival. You will likely arrive on a tourist visa. For me, job security is a pretty important thing if I am heading to the opposite end of the world. And I believe most of their interviews are conducted only over the phone. You might have no real idea what kind of employer you are dealing with...and simply want to move to the exciting city of Hong Kong. As a teacher you will be spending a great deal of your time commuting. This seems to be pretty common in HK, but with HK Education Provider Company you will not be reimbursed for your travel expenses. Think hard about it. If you are just looking for the experience of living in HK perhaps you can find a more well-known or reputable outfit to work for. As was posted elsewhere here on Daves, HK Education Provider Company provide NO contact information, website or company address. Usually a bad sign.

Hi Mikhai,
I think you are right when there are no facts but just hearsay. I have been working with HK Education Provider for close to two years now, and from the start, I have never encountered any problems. When I arrived, they greeted me at the airport, provided me with a fully furnished apartment and had my VISA ready. Maggie Tsui is dependable and professional.
The starting salary is 12 000 HK a month, but remember, your apartment is paid for and you have three bonuses during the year. Not to mention the 5000HK bonus you receive at the end of your contract.
It's a pretty good deal. If you include your salary with your rent costs, it falls within the average of what Kindergarten teachers get paid in Hong Kong.
HK Education Provider has 2 licenses. The 1st license is for recruitment and it's under the Labor Department supervision, under the name HK Education Provider Company. When applying for this license, the Labor Department runs a criminal check on the company before they approve the license.
The 2nd license is the business registration (under the same name); the Immigration Department will look into the financial status of a company before approving any working VISA to the company and the teachers. Hence, the time it takes in order to have a VISA approved and ready. So Mikhai, those are the facts and not hearsay.
If you are still in doubt, you can always verify with the Hong Kong Labour Department http://www.labour.gov.hk/eng/enquiry/enq_com.htm, for a companies registration.
I hope this helped!
Very Happy

Just some further peace of mind for you!
I am also with the company in Hong Kong at the moment and I have been very happy with the package I have received and the treatment I have been given by HKEP. It has been a wonderful 12 months for me and they certainly do not deserve the harsh warnings they have been given on these pages.

Hope you make it to Hong Kong!!
