hey guys, as you prb know, this forum is full of negitive stuff about teaching in Italy! as we are aware, jobs come with shit conditions and pay,, or do they!?!
as we know most the jobs we see are on sites like tefl.com etc so i am wondering (a question to all you in Italy, and who have been for a while!) once you get your foot in the door with a shit school in a certain city, surely there are decent schools that offer decent contracts (full year with more than 900euro netto) that can offer great tefl work in Italy, is this true or am i thinking of a dream??
basically, if one is in italy for a few years, are there decent schools who dont advertise on the net, that can offer a great working life in Italy?
grazie mille, speriamo ke la situazione per noi megliorare, xke' se no, che cosa facciamo?!!?! |

I've worked in a few places in Italy and I could recommend Lord Byron college in Bari, south Italy. They do advertise on the net so you can check it out for yourself, but I spent a fairly happy nine months there and the wage stretches quite well (and I say that without the benefits of having had wealthy parents to sponsor my 'travels'). It's very professional (don't let the camp exteriors fool you) and, though the city is nothing special, the surrounding countryside is beautiful. As regards the slightly sour point in brackets, incidentally, it's rather a pity that so many people in the is job are content to live off savings/said parental assistance, as it's exactly that kind of thing that keeps the wages so low here, that and the fact that Italy is such a popular destination. |
