Does anyone know the school schedule in Thailand (like when the year begins)? Seems like the posting for jobs ask you to begin in May. Is there another month schools seem to hire in?

Also I was hoping ot get some advice on teaching in Thailand. I am a US citizen with a TEFL certificate,a B.A. and 6 years teaching experience including a year of TEFL in Brazil and the past couple of months in Barcelona. Should I fly into Krung Threp and see what offers I can find from there or commit to a year with a school before going? Definitely not looking at staying in Krung Threp though. Any insights into my teaching possibilties in Thailand would be greatly appreciated Smile

for high schools, school year starts mid-Mayish, first term goes to end of september, october is a break period (and another time school tend to hire...though really there are always jobs going somewhere), then second term will start late October/early November and go to the end of February. universities tend to start a little bit later, but follow roughly the same pattern.

Not sure if it's kosher to promote another website in this forum (apologies if not), but ajarn.com has everything you could possibly want/need (and then some) to know about teaching in Thailand specifically.
