Hey there--anyone out there know anything about this organization? I can't seem to find anything online in English about them... Thanks!

I heard they have a particularly humiliating training session where you're locked in a room and told to say "hello" over and over again to a cardboard cutout.

I know some guys who worked at EC. Seemed about the same as NOVA et al......maybe a slightly higher salary and slightly less hours. I was told " NOVA is pettier and EC more vindictive" if that helps.

My 1st j-job was with them years ago. they do weird stuff like house training classmates (you) in different hotels so you wont "foment a revolt" or whatever. EC isbig on image, so play it like a boy scout, the 1st month. maybe the training has improved but classically it involves "Hello" practice with cut out students. though all staff complain, many Ts have decent schedules. kids are team taught (easy!), and the "evaluations" each 1/4 are just something you pretend to take seriously. EC, at least wont mess with your pay as some Mom n Pop schools will.
one thing to watch (EC) is the apartments they "find" for you...a way to recoop some if the $$ they pay you. ...so be picky and tell others what deal is before signing. sapporo has lots of gaijin folks now to advise you. head to F2 of Booty in Susukino just near town centre. (Main (Ekimae) St and South 6 ??)
or the much smaller Slainte (S3 W3) or subscribe to Hokkaido Insider
(flat hunter, etc.) listserve. If you REALLY like cold EC cansend u to Asahikawa where less gaijin will distract you from your immersion into the language if U R so inclined.
Just remember that NOVA has waiting list for sapporo (I heard), so if you like skiing/boarding Ec at least gives you the local.
