I am about to move to s. America, but honestly I can't make a decision yet because there are so many intriguing places. So I am asking for a little bit of advice. Tell em what you think of the following questions.

What is the best market for tefl teachers in south america?

What city has the most beautiful women (or most available women)?

What city has the nicest people?

What city has the best nightlife?

What is the best city in general?

What city is cheap when living on a tefl salary

right now I am trying to make a decision between rio and Bs.As., but I still am drwan in by places like caracas. I think the reality is that I have to travel around all of s. America and figure it out myself, but in the mean time I need to make a decision. I am looking for a world class city in which I can earn a steady income, and also be able to go out and have a good time. I am also looking to try and blend in as muc as possible and get to know the locals. I was living in rome for the last year and have recently come back to chicago. I love rome and I love europe, but i think it is tiome to take the next step to another frontier.
thanks for any advice or info anyone can provide[/i]

Boy, you're lucky PT hasn't been around or she'd let you have it for this one.

What happened to her anyway?

(oh, and I really like Santiago de Chile)

PT is around...just busy. If the OP meant Latin America and not just South America, I'd give Cuernavaca, Guadalajara, or Mexico City my vote.

Most available women...how do you measure that? Take a stroll down Sullivan Ave in Mexico City. Hundreds of available women there. Wink

There are whole towns in the north of Mexico devoid of men, so the urban legend goes, since so many men have gone 'al otro lado'.

The north, the south, the west, even the east, Guy, I've seen these towns, its true, but the women there are usually married to someone, although they may not have seen that person for years, and it sometimes turns out that the SO is also married to someone 'alla'.

Now now, let's not be too harsh on the OP. He (or at least I assume the OP is a he, but I could be mistaken - mustn't be sexist...) is at least being honest about what he wants.

And there were some other questions there too...

The trouble is that I don't think you can really generalize things like "What city has the nicest people?" Hmm, gee, that's kind of a tough one.

Maybe the OP could give us a better idea of what he is looking for...

ok, the questions are obviously really general because i just anted people to say what they liked about certain places. I've been to ROme and I found that the locals can be very warm and friendly if you are introduced to them through a friend, but out in public, meeting people, the romans are actually not very friendly and are some times flat out mean, and I speak Italian. Ive been to other cities in Europe where I have seen amazingly friendly people who are welcoming like in munich or amsterdam. Basically how do the locals take to foreingenrs coming to live in their city.

As far as women, we all know that based on culture and other factors in some cities it is very easy to meet people of the opposite sex in other cities, like rome, its not so easy. it think these are reasonable questions but I didnt feel like drawing up a list of requisites for the responses. basically i am just trying to get a feel for the way of life in some of these places. I need to make a choice, and without going there it is hard to know what to expect.
