Pardon the stupid Handle, this will be changed at a later date!

Ladies and Gentleman! I don't know if you know, but, I am sure you will agree, it is very difficult to meet people here is Muscat, or maybe not.

I've been here for a little over 18 months, and apart from my fellow workmates, I have found the social life in Muscat to be lacking somewhat. Sad

Now before I begin, and this is to Mr Sperling and the Mods, IN NO WAY AM I TRYING TO SET UP A DATING SERVICE OR ANY COMMERCIAL VENTURE WITHIN THIS SITE.

All I am trying to do is get other teachers (or non-teachers) together who work in Muscat. I myself work for one of the well known establishments in this city.

Smile So come on Ladies. PM me and lets get togther for a drink and something to eat. If and when you PM me ask any questions you like etc etc.

PS Lads are welcome as well Smile Thank You.

That is a rather suspicious looking screen name. Laughing But, you have found the problem that comes up for teachers in the Gulf... with the exception of perhaps, Dubai.

And in a previous post you mentioned your Korean wife.

VS,

And like we women haven't heard that line before Rolling Eyes !! Yeah really! What is that mean't to mean VS. I do hope that you are not calling me a liar, VS.

Now listen VS! I do not have to justify myself to you! However, I will categorically state on this board that I am not married. All I am trying to do is to get the expats together to create a bigger social scene in Muscat. That's all.

Now VS! I am sure most people on this board will agree, including myself, that you have contributed enormously to this board. However, there are other things to do during one's retirement. Play golf! Wink find a man! go swimming! etc etc. The options for you are unlimited.

Why not try the above activities. I am only thinking of your health! Its very bad for you sitting in front of a computer all day long during your twilight years, when you could be out enjoying yourself.

Lots of love.
Handsome.

Now To The Original Topic: PM me if you folks want to get together, and we'll have a damn good knees up Very Happy

No sense of humor eh? That is why we have smilies... did you see " Laughing "

Actually if you talk to a random collection of single women who have taught in the Middle East, there is the detail that more than half of the 'single' men you meet socially in the Gulf seem to have wives somewhere that they don't bother to mention...

Thank you so much for your concern about my social life and health, but you are the one who is not content. You too could try Golf or swimming... Lately on this board we have had people saying that Muscat has a 'bar scene' now. Is that not true?

So, I repeat... Good Luck...

Hey dmb... you don't visit the ME boards much these days.

Since you were in Qatar which is as quiet as Oman, don't you have any advice for our OP?

Hey dmb... you have probably seen me tell people that fact dozens of times on this board... and get criticized for it. Laughing

But both Qatar and Oman have been hiring more younger people in the last 2-3 years, the problem is that there is not a system for them to find each other. In Oman, they are mostly spread all over the country.

Hang out at the biggest supermarket? There used to be a Safeway in Washington DC that was famous for this. Cool

younger people
not too young I hope. On the Turkey forum I am definitely one of the oldies.

It's not even places to meet other singles. when you go to dinner parties, pool parties, etc you do feel a bit out of place being single. The Gulf is a couples place.

Yes, Scot... it is only you that is old enough to have lived in the prehistoric times when this was normal usage. Laughing

So, we 'oldies' are of absolutely no use to our OP. Hopefully someone sent him a PM.
