Has anyone heard of a program out of Madrid called Caterbury English? They apparently train you for your certificate and then find you 15 hours of work...from what I've heard, it seems too easy. Any help?

I took the Canterbury TEFL course many years ago (2002 to be exact) and I've posted about them and Spain in general here on the boards, so feel free to read my past posts or PM me any specific questions you might have.

I just completed the canterbury tefl program juts this past december. The course itself is very good. They give you a lot of resources, and have good teachers. There is a business class, a childrens class, and a theory class rotating days throughout the month. I enjoyed the classes and the teachers, so I would reccommend it! I I really learned a lot from this course. The only setback that I feel is the cost. It is a pretty pricey course, but you do get a lot from it. They also give you 40 hours teaching before you actually get certified, so it's pretty reassuring that way. They also do guarantee you a job, but it takes a little bit of time to work your way up to 15 hours a week, because they have to find the students for you (there is no shortage of students!) Right now, it is the beginning of January, and I have 9 hours with the school, but I think that by the end of the month I will have my 15 hours. You can have more hours if you want also, you just have to tell them. I hope this helps your decision!

Word is it�s a good program and it�s cheap. I know a lot of people who have done it and have heard no complaints. From what I hear they don�t pay a whole lot, but will stand by their promise and guarantee you work, which is more than what most academies in Madrid will do.

However, if you want to work in Madrid, you really don�t need a TEFL. There is a lot of work, even if you don�t have EU papers.
