|
|
I will be going to fill a teaching position in Harbin this month. I know there are many posts regarding the Medical Exam, but I am unsure of the Harbin process, is it the same everywhere? What will the actually do? What do they look for when they test your blood, just HIV/AIDS, HepC/B? I am a little worried about the needles, I have read much on the "re-usable needles" in hospitals, is it a big problem that most face?
I had my "medical exam" here in Canada, just a check up and blood test, blood pressure, weight, height, and that was that.
Any info regarding the Medical Exam once in China would be greatly appreciated, thanks a million. |

Very, very much so. Generally speaking there is a blood test for HIV/AIDS and Syphilis, lung X-ray for TB, ultrasound scan of your internal organs, blood pressure test, eye sight test, and in my case in Dalian, a male doctor taking a look at the genitals.

Two blood tests in China and I have had no problem. Once again, some of the things you read are either paranoia, no longer the case, or only happens in VERY, VERY rural and under-developed places. Harbin is far too developed to be using used needles in a government-appointed clinic specificially for giving Chinese who need to live abroad for a lengthy period of time, and foreigners who need to live in China for a lengthy period of time.

I'm guessing by your answer that you haven't had a medical exam in Harbin TW.
Nothing like you described. The one that I got was a complete joke. They took my blood and then made me stand in front of an X-ray machine for a few seconds and that was it. All in all it took about 15 minutes for the whole thing. That included the waiting and filling out a form.
Harbin is OK when it comes to medical checks, but it depends on where you go. I went to the main hospital on Guogeli da jie the other day to check my wisdom teeth. I had to get an X-ray according to the surgeon so I went down to the third floor to get one. The guy was trashed. He had the shakes, sweats and he couldn't even talk. Plus I could smell the stench on him.
IDIOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
