I am planning to start teaching in Santiago or Buenos Aires early September because of obligations at home. Is it realistic to pick up full time work at this time, just showing up with some paper? and maintain it during the slow season?
Bridge Linguatec has a job placement service ($800 including on line certificate) which supposedly guarantees full time job placement (20-30 hrs/week) which I assume will be steady throughout the contract.
What is the best plan? |

Yeah, They could get you a job, but the pay might not be good. Expect to spend about two weeks to one month to find a decent one. |

never expect work in argentina to pay for more than a half decent life at best. wages have always been low here, are stagnant and inflation is 12%/year. teaching in buenos aires is not really worth it unless you can support yourself from another income source. US$500/month a year ago was enough. Now you need to budget for US$600. Doesn't sound a big difference but when you earn $us5/hr it soon adds up. |
