Hey, im considering teaching in CM for a while. Im taking it that i'd be making around the 25k p/m mark. Paying 5k rent on a 1 bedroom condo, 2.5k on a scooter, taking it easy during the week and limiting my self to about 300b per day and about 1000-1500 a day for the weekend.

Your budget doesnt allow for initial set-up costs, including apartment security bond and 2 months rent in advance, & one-off purchases that pop up from time to time (clothes, shoes, something for the apartment). Also, your budget would not allow any interaction with service girls. Hell, even regular Thai girlfriends cost a heap! Also, where/how will you fund leisure trips / holidays within Thailand.

The first year I was in Thailand I spent 120,000 baht more on day-to-day living expenses than I earned; that is, excluding my purchase of a motorcycle, computer, TV, fridge, clothing and funds that I stupidly donated to certain ladies. Altogether, I was 300,000 baht worse off during my first year in Thailand.

Finally, teaching positions in Chiang Mai are thin on the ground.

What city in China are you currently in?

Hello ozvaldo

Imo; your budget is fairly realistic if

you can stick to it, but you'd be smart

to bring along a cash reserve of 3 or 4K

for holidays, set up costs, etc.

In Thailand, time flies.

The money too. Very Happy

Never been to Nanning but I've heard it's quite nice. Holidayed in Chiang Mai 3 times and loved it each time, but haven't been there in 4 years.

Good luck with your plans!
