|
|
Hello everyone.
I have an interview in London in just over a week with JET, and to be honest I'm starting to get a bit concerned. I've been for interviews with the likes of AEON and Nova (which actually went fiarly well), but from what I hear, the JET interview is quite different.
Can anyone give me any idea of what to expect in the JET interview? Any current or former JETs' comments would be especialy appreciated because I really (really) like the sound of the Programme and getting a place would mean a lot to me.
Cheers,
Phil |

Thanks for the tip. Another little question- I'm still a beginner at Japanese, so can you tell me this: Osaka-shi and Osaka-fu- what's the difference? I'm guessing 'shi' is 'city'??? |

Does anyone have any information about the Canadian interviews? My interview in Montreal is next month and I'd really appreciate some help on what to expect, I can't find any accounts of anyone who was interviewed in Canada. I'm being interviewed with my "companion", does this increase or decrease my chances?
What are the chances of being accepted after getting the interview? I'm really excited about JET, but a trip to Montreal in the middle of the semester isn't cheap, and pretty well everyone I know who applied got an interview. How many people are interviewed and turned down? I know exact figures are impossible, I'd just like to get your impressions.
Please answer! |

This question gets asked every year. Nobody can tell you, not even JET.
If you were to know how many people apply and get interviews from Canada, and look at the JET web page which says how many Canadians are hired, you might get a rough idea of what you're looking for.
It's all a crap shoot that you have to learn to deal with. Read those links I gave you. How much of that can you do? |

Hey
I'm sure this question has been asked far too often but....
Could anyone please give me some examples of questions that they have been asked in their JET interview? I have an interview in Toronto on February 21st and my nerves are starting to act up!
Thanks so much!

I did my interview in Toronto a couple of years ago and I think I lucked out because they went easy on me. They didn't even ask me to do a teaching demonstration.
My questions were not difficult:
"Do you know what your role would be on the program?"
"What do you know about Japan?"
"How would you motivate the students to learn English?"
"Would you participate in community events?"
"What would you teach the students about Canada?"
Easy stuff but I have to say that this is not the standard interview. Everyone else I've spoken to had a more difficult time. They were asked to pretend to introduce themselves to a group of non-English speaking students. They were also asked more specific questions such as, "What's the population of Tokyo?"
Good luck on your interview. |
