I will be applying for a business visa for a six day trip coming up. How long does it take in Vancouver? |

Generally it takes 4 business days to recieve a visa (shorter for a higher fee). For an F visa dont forget the invitation letter from the company you are visiting. Since you are going only for 6 days and L (tourist ) visa is generally what most people get for short business trips (depending on nature of business of course. Since there is less paperwork and is generally granted for 30 days. The Visa office is on broadway avenue next to staples business depot. Save you the trip of going to the consulate on granville and then being redirected there |

1) for business "F" visa(single or multiple): A: an official invitation from the competent Chinese government agencies or organizations, or companies that are authorized to request the Consulate-General to issue visa; B: photocopies of business license issued by the competent Chinese agency or contracts for those who have business or investments in China.

It takes four business days to process visa applications. For special cases, rush service is offered, and the applicant is subject to pay an extra fee for it. The rush service fees are rated as follows: $50 Canadian Dollars per person for the same day service (application must be submitted before 11:00a.m.), $35 Canadian Dollars per person for the second or third day service. |

Hi folks, excellent information for me and timely too. The tourist visa asks for a phone number and name of person in China. Are they sticklers for this?

If you know someone in China (especially in the city you'll be going to), use his/her telephone number and name. If not, just leave it blank or use the hotel's contact information. |

Thanks, TW. I guess one would want to avoid giving the name of a school and saying he was going to teach in China?

I would just give the name of the contact person and his/her cell phone number and say nothing more. |

Thankyou thankyou
I just got back from Calgary - 1800 or so kms. and I got my L visa. There were no questions and no papers asked for. 5 hours and 100 Canabucks and I'm on my way -- Monday am. I can hardly wait.
Thanks for the tips!!!
warmest regards

Now let's just hope that your employer can in fact convert your L visa to a Z visa, or to get you a FEC and RPF for that matter and without your having to go to HK. |
