I have a friend who is suddenly interested in teaching overseas, but Istanbul is just a bit too big for her. So... what are the job prospects like in Ankara? What are the places to go and talk to, who here works/lives there, etc etc?

i live here.
there's only maybe 2 or 3 foreign run language schools. And the pay is very low...but Kent English is a very good place to work...the DOS is a lovely person and 80% of the teachers there have been there for a long long time so they know their stuff.

there are some private schools as well just like Ist. But i think a lot of foreigners prefer Ist because there is more to do. Ankara is very small compared.

Well I took Turkish lessons at ACTOM in Kizilay, and they even offered me a job... but you're right, they pay is alot less. But I loved the city: I visited 4 times and lived there for a total of about 4 months. But perhaps part of the allure was my girlfriend at the time???
