There really is no excuse for overstaying. (OK, there are good excuses but most people that overstay are just stupid). The date on which you must leave the country is clearly stamped in your passport. From most places in Thailand it is possible to travel to an international border crossing in one day. If it really is not possible to leave the country before the specified date visit the immigration office to get an extension before your visa expires. |

^ Couldn't have said it better myself, wix.
In fact I just returned from the Cambodian border about 5 minutes ago.
From Bangkok, there are now at least 4 different bus services
running back and forth to the border 7 days a week.
resposted from APPENDIX B
of The Master Index Thailand:
Q2.2: I'm in Thailand without a Work Permit and my Tourist Visa expires soon. YIKES! What do I do now?
A2.2: Don't panic! Many expats are in the same boat; most of them just do a border run. That means simply crossing one of Thailand's borders into a neighboring country and coming back with a new 30 day visa. For those who prefer a little company and a helping hand with the paperwork, there are several 'visa-run' bus services available to guide you over the border and through the so-called U-turn. The Bangkok to Cambodia run takes roughly 4 hours each way (depending on traffic) plus 30 minutes to several hours at the border itself while you stand in line for your stamps. note 1: Don't forget to bring along one passport-sized photo, which will be stapled to your Cambodia visa! note 2: Quick Thai Visa & Jack's Golf cross the border at Ban Laem Village in Chantaburi, a newly opened border south of Poipet which is less crowded and a lot faster than Poipet.
About Poipet: If you do cross the border at Poipet, please be aware that there are gangs of highly skilled child pickpockets waiting on the Cambodian side of the border. Just be smart: leave your jewelry & digital camera at home, and secure your $$$ in a safe location.
