I have a video conference interview next week for a SNET position. I have done some background on the curriculum/net scheme/issues in team teaching, etc. I have been told that the link up will be 20 minutes and then I will have a written test/assignment. Now I am just wondering if anyone has any last minute pearls of advice for me. Any veterans with some quality tips?

Hi there Dodgee: I was hoping you'd get a few more replies to your question as I have a possible interview in the near future. They acknowledged receipt of my application and interviews will be held before the end of March. If you receive any info can you fill me in. I'll need all the help I can get. Thanks

Hi guys,
I went through the interview process for a PNET position via Edstaff in Australia in December and have just accepted a provisional offer to start in March. The advice I received from a friend in HK was to emphasise your willingness to learn initially and not be too gung-ho about changing the world. Talk about how happy you are to work with the local teachers on things like lesson planning, co-teaching and PD and how you are prepared to take things slowly.

From what I gather, a lot of local teachers don't actually have much time for co-lesson planning, but you still need to make sure you're not going to scare anyone.

If you can talk about phonics and whole language, show a little passion for a particular area e.g. reading so they can see that you'll be able to engage with students, it should help.

Hope this helps . NB this applies to PNET interview. Can't help with SNET.

Best of luck.

Michele

Thanks for the nice replies. I had my interview yesterday and I followed Michelemcf advice even though I have just read it. I was quite nervous with the technology and may have talked too much as a result. I also wrote far too much. They wanted me to write an approximate 200 words speech but I doubled that at least. Hey Dodgee,
No worries. I'm sure you did fine.

How was your interview conducted? Did you have to go to a designated location? I'm in Japan at the moment and was wondering how my interview would be conducted (if I make it to that stage).
I thought the exam would be some sort of grammar test. What kind of speech did you have to write? Also, what type of questions did they ask you?

Sorry for all the questions. I just want to be prepared. Very Happy
