Hello everyone,
I was looking at a different topic and it said that in Moscow the average private tutor charges $30-60$/hr. I was wondering a)is that accurate b) can I expect to charge the same in St.Petersburg and how do I start getting students As I'll have not a lot of money to be able to live off and want to get students as fast as possible. Thanks for your help! |

If money is your thing go to Moscow -- they got plenty green there. Speaking from experience, I've made between $8 and $40 an hour and finding students is almost entirely dependent on good fortune. If you are entirely new to Saint Petersburg and have little or no russian language skills coming in I wouldn't expect to find anything like $60 right off the bat, if at all....and honestly....even if we did know about students who wanted to pay $60 an hour do you think we would be free-sharing with the action?
That said you should certainly be able to find enough work to live comfortably. Check out

Hey thanks a lot for the reply. Thing is I am fully fluent in Russian (It's my first language) but I've lived in Canada a long time (speak it like a native) But I can't go to Moscow for several reasons. Including the fact my friend is also going and she speaks no Russian and we have contacts in St.Petersburg. But I think we'll be able to figure something out....if not then go to a school, but I really want to teach privatley. Thanx for the advice~ |

Thanks Carl!
There's a topic in the forum right now about charging private students. Quite funny.
By the way, haven't heard from you for a while! Your email is out of the database. Need to buy you that beer! |

Speak Canadian like a native? That's kind of like English right? |
