I'll start around the 1st of may or so.
DF
San Miguel de Allende
Guanajuato
Guadalajara
Puerto Vallarta
Manzanillo
Zihuatenejo
Acapulco
Taxco
Cuernavaca
DF
I'll try to spend 3 to 5 days in each city, though I'm committed to a schedule. If I'm some where and I get bored I'll just move on.
Any advice of places to stay ( 2 or 3 star type hotels ) or things to see and do in each city would be GREATLY appreciated.

You won't need more than a day in Acapulco - it's a dump in my opinion. Worth it for some of the views over the bay though. Stay at Pie de la Cuesta just up the coast - a lot more peaceful, great sunsets and a beautiful beach. |

Yes, Acapulco is a big overcrowded dirty dump. Scoot down the coast a bit to the Mazunte- San Agustonillo- Zipolite area. See it before it gets turned into one masive resort, as the rumours say. Actually its more than rumours, it has been anounced by the governor. Also, Ulisis and Murat have been buying up land in the area, as well as many other old school PRI gangstas-which bears more weight than their spoken promises.
Supposedly there are plans to develop a Oaxacan version of the Mayan Riviera, from Huatulco up to Rio Grande. Prices are already starting to take off. I'm of two minds on this one. I know that anything the government comes up with will be lacking in imagination and ultimately ugly and hard on the enviornment. This area has developed slowly over the years at it's own pace and style. Slowly a very comfortable niche has been carved out, and it's all being eyed by the money people now. They came up with the grosera called Huatulco. The locals were booted off their land and the whole thing was plopped in. At first those who opposed the deal or refused to sell were treated in the traditional Oaxacan PRI style-murdered. Opposition soon seemed to disapear.
Now Huatulco is presented as a developement success story. Progress has come to the coast-look all the savages have cement homes now, and jobs cleaning and serving the resorts that pay 60 pesos a day, up to twelve hours.
If the project goes through the charm of the area that has attracted a solid core of travelers since the sixties wiol dissapear.
But the price of my house that I bought last year will go through the roof! |

Sorry I was a bit harsh on Huatulco and Acapulco, I do forget that some people like that sort of thing. |

Naw, you are pretty much on for Acapulco. The bay isn't all that nice to swim in, though the outskirts offer up nice beahces. Acapulco only really has nightlife to its credit. |

You might want to add Queretaro to the list, I second it on Aguas Caliente. |
