Right off the bat...it's been said before, but I will say it again, there is NO amount of studying I could have done to prepare myself for that test. None. It totally screws with your head. They are TRYING to trick you (okay, not really trick, but make you second guess yourself). That's the point. And it was infuriating.

I wish my interview session was set up the way they are in Australia; they will grade the tests and send home people who didn't pass it, just so I wouldn't have to sit here for two weeks and fret over what I know I got wrong and what I can't believe I screwed up on and what I don't remember if I put the right answer...

Basically though, the rest of it was very smooth. The interview was laid back. The demos weren't too horrible, according to my interviewer, I did a bit better than what was expected.

BUT...he also said, if I don't bomb the test I should be good to go. IF I don't bomb that test...that test was brutal. Shocked

Absoultely. The test IS hard. As the interviewer said to me, it's there to sort those who can speak English with those who understand the English language.

If it makes you feel any better, halfway through taking the test, I was planning what I would be doing for the rest of the afternoon. I was sure I would be sent home.

Obviously not. I'm off to Osaka in 4 weeks!

I've been working for ECC for a couple of years and I too thought I would have totally failed the test, and actually I think I did fail! It was really tough for me and I just ended up picking random answers and writing any old thing down.

I don't think it matters what result you get, it's just an excuse for the recruiters to say sayonara to the first round of people whom didn't make a good impression.

They're looking for personality!

btw. what I've told you guys ins't fact, just me guessing because I am telling you that there is no way I could have passed that grammar test!!!

I guess I was again lucky because ECC told me I got the job on the same day as the interview, so no sleepless nights wondering.

Good luck with the results guys!

I don't know...Australia seems to do the recruiting sessions way differently from Toronto...I couldn't see it as a way to get rid of those who lack personality (at least not in Toronto) because they do it at the end of the day.

Who knows though...I find out in 3 days if I got the job or not!

Mamasita, I'll be interviewing in Toronto should I be lucky enough to be granted one. Still need to apply first...lol! Can you tell me exactly what they asked you on that grammar test and also what the rest of the session/interview process was like (if you remember)? Thanks. A heads up would be appreciated.
