|

Hey folks,
Could use some guidance/advice. I'm interviewing for teaching position at AEON, and yes have read the pros and cons of working for them, but wanted feedback on my potential as genuine candidate. I'm 35, male, american, have a BA and MA, taught High School history for three years, had some "important looking" jobs in both govt. and technology on my resume, have a little experience teaching adult learners who's native language isn't english, look younger than 35, still have a full head of hair, not bad looking, and in good shape. My concern is, at the risk of sounding conceited, is am I over qualified? Too old? I included my physical description, because it seems to matter from some the stuff I've read. Any candid feedback would be great. Thanks. |

Your age is ok.
Your MA and HS teaching experience may look as if you are overqualified, so don't try selling yourself on those points TOO much.
Your "important looking" government jobs won't mean much to an AEON employer.
Your physical description doesn't mean much to them as long as you show up neatly dressed and well-groomed. |

Yep, you sound like you got as much of a shot as any other fella. Just go in there with a smile and positive mental attitude, (not to mention pants, can't stress that enough), and you should do just fine. |

Smiling and being well dressed is the most important part of the job. If you seem friendly and approachable, you should have an advantage over other applicants.
If you look younger, its probably a plus, but I got hired at 39, so I wouldnt worry too much. |

I had my aeon interviews a few weeks ago (and got offered a position although i'm waiting on my dream job offer to be announced shortly!) ...
Anyways, one thing i learnt was that they really like energy Some people gave dull teaching demos, spoke very very monotonously, and overall seemed to lack the energy and patience to teach. So smile, be friendly and participate actively
Goodluck! |
