Anyone with positive input is welcome to respond! I've been working throughout Asia and the Middle East and have a craving to get back to the West. Mexico has been a favorite spot for many years, and I wonder if it's feasible to simply go there to job hunt, or if I should establish sound contacts before investing in an air ticket.

Is it unlawful to go first as a tourist? If offered a job, would it be possible to apply for the work visa there, or would I have to return to the USA to apply? Enquiring minds need to know.

Sure: in fact, most people find TEFL work in Mexico while they are on the ground here, going door to door with their CV in hand. It's also possible to find work over the internet, but that is more difficult.

If you come to Mexico, make sure to bring your degree and your teaching certificate with apostilles. Do a search for 'apostillization' for more info.
