I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good free online photo sharing site. I have tons of pictures on my PC and I use Picasa to organize them. I am looking for a way to store and organize them online, so I can have friends check out the pictures and have access to them where ever I am. Also I don't plan on ordering prints so this feature is not really needed.
I have tried Hello, but it is not really what I am looking for. Any suggestions ? |

http://www.glowfoto.com
This has both private and public albums. It also gives you easy access to various forms of BB and HTML code that you can use to post pics elsewhere on the web.
Hope that helps. And that you get time to note it before the thread gets deleted as not teaching/job-related! |

You have to buy from them at least once/yr. They have sent me many harassing emails threatening to delete my photos if I don't order. |

If you only want to have them available for a short time then www.picturetrail.com will host your pics for about three months for free then you either have to pay to have them stay there or the account gets deleted.

found this after doing a search, what do you guys think? I was hoping for something free, as I like to treat pennies like manhole covers (means I am really cheap!)

Try www.yahoo.com
There is a section there for posting photos. Its easy and free and you can post as many photos as you like.
I use it to post photos from where Ive been in China. all you have to do is sign up a yahoo email address and that is also free |

Yahoo is offering a new "360 degree" program which seems to be aiming for blog+photo sharing like Google's "Hello"+Picassa+Blogger.
Unfortunately I've had a lot of problems uploading photos to Yahoo's service, and I have cable internet connectivity.
Stosskraft, do you have a blog at Blogger.com? "Hello" is a lot more useful if you use it in conjuction with an internet blog account.
Dear Moderators,
I think you may agree that this is teaching related, or has the potential anyways, especially if ESL students have internet connectivity. Yes? |

Don't tell me the mods are going to remove this post? With all the other stuff floating around, this should be the least of their worries.

www.flickr.com up to 200 pics free; great tagging and groups; good security and controls over your photos. Also, nominal fee per year for large storage and extra features.
Also, www.webshots.com and there are lots of others, but these are my two faves ! |

We did a bunch of market surveys for kodak about a year ago--they were most interested in finding out who uses the online photoshare or whatever it is. I would call it marketshare not photoshare!!

See, thats just a bad way to do businiess, IMHO. Very arrogant. If you haveto threaten your customer to buy from you, you really are in trouble.
The curious thing is that Kodak has adapted well to the change in technology and although they reported a dip in profits last year, it had nothing to do with the decline of film products, it was attributed to an accounting error. In fact they are in very good shape, apparently, thought they must be worried. Hence the arrogance. I say, take em down, Yahoo!! |
