Can anyone out there pass on some info regarding the following two prospective NET positions? Sai Kung looks quite far away from Tai Po..
Would you consider Shatin a nice area to live and work?
1) Sai Kung Central Lee Siu Yam Mem School (base school) in Sai Kung and FSFTF Fong Shu Chuen Primary School (partner school) in Tai Po
2) GCCITKD Cheong Wong Wai Primary School (base school) and TWGHs Sin Chu Wan Primary School (partner school): both in Shatin
Cheers for any info

I am no expert, but given a choice, I would take two schools closer together. You don't need to go from one to the other very often, but it helps to be close by when you do. It's also easier to get into a fairly good routine each week when travel times are similar and in the same area. It is not that easy to switch places and times -- eg some teachers in am/pm schools and some who commute to schools in two far apart places find it difficult to adjust each week.
I've never lived in Shatin, but have heard from others who do live there that it is good. Best to make a choice after arriving. Stay in a hotel or serviced apartment for at least a month and give yourself time to find what suits you. For instance, teaching at two schools in Shatin would mean you could live in Kowloon Tong, or anywhere along the KCR line.
I've heard that TWGHS is a good employer to work for.
And it is a long way from Sai Kung to Tai Po and probably not a one-bus journey. |

Choice 1 has two schools too far apart. Shatin or near there is fine, I used to teach private students in that area. |
