|
|
How does everyone feel about a get together on Saturday, Feb. 4th? I know there's someone from Torreon in town and someone from Canada coming into DF the day before who have expressed interest.
Any suggestions as to where? M@tt, why don't you come out and let us see who you are? |

Hola Guy,
I wish I could join you in February in the D.F., but, unfortunately, I'm back in the States vegetating in an utterly boring suburb of Philadelphia while looking for a teaching job. I really miss Mexico City (never thought I'd be writing that!) and hope to return someday to live for longer than a few months. Most likely that will happen once I take early retirement in a couple of years - having that small (but steady) income will make it much easier for me to live on an English teacher's salary.
Cheers,
Marsha |

Marsha we miss you already. Come back soon, eh?
Shoot, I forgot it's a 3-day weekend. Are you getting the Friday or Monday off in lieu of the 5th? What is that again...Constitution Day right? I'd change the date but that Canadian will only be in town that weekend.
I think it's too cold to do the Xochimilco boat ride. Maybe better in April or May for that.
Still looking for suggestions as to where to go. |

I was thinking we could hook up at the Spanish Cultural Center (Centro Cultural de Espana) in the Zocalo, right behind the main Catedral. The place has a sit down rasturant bar with great ambiance and a nice view of the street. Could be jazz night, though not live music. |

What does that mean 'with bells on'? I have always wondered. I mean, it can't be literally with little bells adorning clothing, or shoes, or as earrings, can it? That's something one might do walking through the Canadian woods in order to ward off bears...
I know what it means but where does it come from?
Anyone know the idiomology? |

With bells on, in its most common current use, is an informal expression that means 'eagerly; ready to enjoy oneself', and your response was sure to please your host. There's the added connotation that you're not only looking forward to the occasion (usually some sort of party) but that you're all set to contribute to the festivities and add to everyone else's enjoyment. |
So, like I said... AIRFARE, Guy. Just consider it payment! |

Is the site to see for directions to the Centro Cultural de Espana. PM me if you would like better directions. We'll be up on the rooftop bar as of 7 PM this Saturday. |

JohnnyT and someone from Veracruz asked if we could do another get together, so here's another February one!
Saturday Feb 25th, 7 PM, at the Black Horse again. Acid Jazz Funk night they say.
