Would it be illegal to rent a room or two and have classes running out of it of 10 or so students. I want to set up a little "business" like this but I don't know is I need a business license or not. As well, do I need any documentation to have private students or again some special business license or not. Now I'm not asking what can be done with some bribing but what is actually legal...any help is appreciated!! |

As far as I know, it's illegal to use a flat like that for business purposes. If there were groups of people continually coming in to your flat, having a ciggie out on the stairs at break time etc, the neighbours would probably start asking a few questions.
As for private students, I wouldn't worry about it. Having said that, I have heard of someone (American) living in a one-horse town who used to give private lessons. The stuents soon started telling friends etc that they were having lessons from a native speaker and word got round. It's OK for business but it also attracted some unwanted attention. |
