My boyfriend and I are planning to apply to Nova, hoping to move to Japan early next year. While looking at the page for Nova's London office, I noticed something about a graduate recruitment scheme. As both of us will be graduating this July, this sounded rather interesting. After giving Nova a call, I found out that the graduate recruitment is different from regular recruitment in that there is a group interview (involving presentations, group activities, etc, supposedly more similar to what one is used to at university and for those with less job experience), as opposed to the standard 40-minute personal interview. Although I would prefer to go through a personal interview rather than a group one, I was wondering if the graduate scheme might perhaps be 'easier' on me? Is there anyone in the UK who has applied through the scheme and could give me some advice on their experience, or anyone who could tell me what it is like applying 'regularly' as a 'fresh' graduate?

And just a question on the off-side... what kind of references are required for Nova? I'm a bit worried if they ask for academic references because I am admittedly a bit of a slacker at university...

Anyway, thanks for any help!

i just had an interview with nova, although i didn't go through the grad recruitment version, i've actually hadn't heard of that either. but with references, i just used work realted references. and even though they hadn't gotten through to them, nova still offered me the job anyways. i think they're trying to stock up on teachers for the april start date (its the begining of the school year apparently). the interview was pretty easy going, we watched a video on japan played a few games, did a mock lesson and then had individual interviews. they didn't seem to be too choosy so long as ur a native english speaker with a degree

Girls, please look at the other recent posting on Nova. Make sure you know and understand what you getting into before going to Japan to work for them.
