Not that big a deal, but I've searched and came up dry as far as NOVA is concerned. Is there an allowance or reimbursement for one way flight to Japan through them? Who does offers this? Thanks - Colin |

NOVA does not reimburse plane passage to Japan. if you work a year contract you might get a bonus that covers the cost of some airfare but dont hold your breath. Quit your job and you get zip. |

ejectseat,
I don't think any of the big four eikaiwas offer a direct reimbursement for airfare. You might get a discount from them if you use their own flight plans, and as Paul wrote, you might get an end of year (read: end of contract) bonus that might make up for some of the cost.
JET Programme and Westgate Corporation pay for airfare. JET pays up front, while you get reimbursed from Westgate in 2 installments on your first paychecks.
There are other places, I'm sure, but by and large, very few places offer airfare allowance. |

Here's the real deal in plain English:
NOVA does not offer any flight reimbursement.
NOVA does not offer any bonus, whether or not you complete one contract or five.
AEON does offer a contract completion bonus. |

Aeon pays a contract completion bonus (when I was there it was Y60,000 for a year contract, rising to Y100000 for 18 months and Y120000 for two years). They will also pay for your flight home (they just give you a rough cash equivalent). In my case, they handed me around Y80000 for the flight on top of my bonus. |

They're not one of the big four, but Shane refunds your one-way air fare.
End of contract bonuses start mid way through your second year, and they include a return ticket if you want it.
My information could be a few years out of date - haven't checked it recently. |

The AEON 'Contract Stipulations and Benefits' website states that:
Quote: |
The airfare to Japan is to be arranged and paid for by the teacher. A ticket back to the teacher's home country or the cash equivalent is provided by AEON upon completion of the final contract.
|
Quote: |
A one time cash bonus is provided upon completion of the final contract as follows:
After completing one year : 65,000 yen
After 1 year, 3 months : 80,000 yen
After 1 year, 6 months : 100,000 yen
After 1 year, 9 months : 120,000 yen
After 2 years or more : 150,000 yen
