|
|
Dear Forum Readers,
Ok, I was really skeptical about the new format. I wasn't crazy about having separate boards for each country, and I generally don't like sites that force me to register.
However....after using the new board for a few days now, I am completely "sold" on its relative advantages over the old board. So, just what are those advantages?
Well, for starters, the "shelf-life" for new posts will be much, much longer, since posts are now categorized by country, and not all thrown together into one big, messy heap. On the old board, brand new posts would be down at the bottom after only 2 or 3 days. If you weren't quick, you'd miss a good thread.
Second big advantage of the new format is the "immediacy" of posting. For those still lurking in the shadows of unregistered-dom, this means that when you hit the "submit" button, your post is up right away. No more waiting for a reply over the long weekend, or for Dave to get his "you know what" out of bed anymore, for those of us living on the other end of the American space-time continuum!
And finally, the smiley faces do add a nice touch to posts for those moments when it's hard to put a particular feeling into words.
So...I hope those of you reading this will take my advice, and get signed up today... because in my mind, the single best thing about Dave's was... and always will be the HUGE and diverse number of posters who contribute to the various forums.
Warm regards,
Kent F. Kruhoeffer

The new board is great and should become better as more people discover how useful it is. I tried the old one a few times, but found it too much hard work to locate threads of interest to me. |

Dave,
I mentioned this in another thread, but I would like to repeat myself here:
I LOVE THIS FORMAT! It is SO user-friendly and organized. Thank you for all your hard work. |

Well this grumpy old-fogey is a traditionalist and prefers the OLD STYLE.
It was more chaotic but there was a certain synergy about it. (Reach for those Dictionaries !)
Can Dave PLEASE, PRETTY PLEASE keep it running in tandem with the new forum for old fogeys like me ? |

Ahh...that would be why i haven't noticed a change in the past 2 years and why i've been wondering what the hell everyone's on about. And what's all that stuff on the other thread about text size and new formats and pissing about with your browser settings or even changing your browser? It looks identical and works identically today as it did when i first started using the site. Internet Explorer and Safari have no problems. |
