People on this board have recommended Egypt for me.
I have a BA degree in Math and a TESOL Certificate. I also have about 6 months experience teaching ESL in Poland.
I would like to possibly work in Cairo starting in September (or when the next school year starts). I have a few questions though:
1)Would I be qualified to teach in Cairo or do I need a Master's degree?
2) When does the school year start and when is the best time to go to Egypt?
3) Are there some websites on-line with some of the language schools in Cairo?
4) What is the going rate as far as pay goes (per year in USD)?
5) What is the cost of living like in Cairo?
Any help would be appreciated. I converted to Islam a few years ago and want to experience the Arab and Islamic culture. Thanks in advance. |

At your beginning level of education and experience, you are pretty much at the bottom of the food chain in teaching. I would not expect to earn more than enough to pay daily living expenses assuming that you live VERY frugally. And it will take some funds when you arrive to tide you over financially.
You may have to be in Cairo knocking on doors in order to get anything. Language school hire throughout the year - whoever is there when they have a need gets hired. I'm not sure how likely you are to get a position in a primary school, but they start in September.
