| How far in advance do you have to apply for your position? I'm wondering how long the application process takes and how long it takes to get all the paperwork done. Yes, I know that, chances are, I'm going to have to interview here in the states and the school will take care of most of the paperwork for me, but I still wanted to ask because that's not always the case, is it? Thanx, guys. |

The visa process takes 6-8 weeks before you receive your certificate of eligibility or work visa from the consulate. Count on two months from time of interview till time you leave for Japan. |

| Count on longer than that if you are applying to a big chain. They tend to work on 4-6 month lead times from advertising to filling a post. Between interview and applying for CoE comes waiting to hear for acceptance after intervgiew waiting to hear of a suitable vacancy. Say 3-4 months from interview to flight. |
