| Is it possible to survive in Thailand when you only know a very small amount of Thai? I have absolutely zero knowledge of the Thai language, but would I be able to get around Bangkok reasonably well with a good phrasebook and a willingness to learn? |

Thailand has just enough English speakers that you can generally find help when you need it.
There are plenty of maps (get bi-lingual ones if you can - so they can read it) with clear directions - lots of signs in English.
And, after a while you get pretty good using gestures.
You pick the basics for directions quickly enough - right after counting! |
