i was checking the climate for sendai on the internet and i think it just gets up to 80 degrees or maybe 85 in the summer. that doesn't sound too hot, but is it? maybe it's so humid that it seems quite hot. still trying to figure out the whole handling hot summers thing. |

I used to live there, and I remember everyone carrying a towel around their necks on the subway in the summer. Seems as though the airconditioners aren't turned on or are used minimaly in the subways. Towels looked like a good idea, because everyone was sweating profusely. |

Everyone sweats horribly pretty much everywhere in Japan during summer.
Sendai can be chilly in the winter and slightly hot during the summer.
It's difficult to compare any temperatures in Japan though. The humidity makes pretty much everywhere too hot for work clothes...
...so comparing a city thats outrageously hot to a city thats extremely hot is really the same thing. |

Mary, I think you are just going to have to jump in with both feet up to your chin.
You seem to be wanting to engineer the perfect situation based on criteria from your home environment. Life in Japan (or any other foreign country including Mexico) just isn't going to be like back home.
Embrace the strangeness! |
