Actually watched an episode of that silly "esl teachers in Taiwan" show. There was a teacher from Canada who was prevented from leaving Taiwan because her infant son (born in Taiwan) didn't have a Taiwanese passport.
Is it the same for Turkey? My daughter was born in Turkey but only has a Canadian passport. (What use is a Turkish passport anyway?) Would she have trouble leaving with me? Turks have to pay a "tax" to get out, after all.
I asked my husband to check up on this. But, surprise, nothing's happening... |

Surprise surprise...
Your husband is Turkish, isn't he? I'm not sure but I think that means your daughter needs a Turkish passport because she's a Turkish citizen...
I'll bet calsimsek knows the answer to this one. |

My daughter, who was born in Istanbul, left Turkey this last summer on her American Passport. She doesn't have a Turkish one. We used her Turkish Kimlik and American Passport and she didn't have to pay the fee to exit. We went through the Turkish citizen side and had no problems leaving. I would say no worries if you have a kimlik and Canadian passport. |

Thats what we did, too. the Kimlik and american passport. they'll need the kimlik for school, too.
no one has ever asked about the kids passport status, but everyone needs to see the kimlik. (pink for girls, blue for boys!) |

Well since you asked........
I'm not saw, but I think Taiwan has no dual citizenship law. Turkey does.
Thus it makes no difference what passport you use. As long as you enter and leave the country with your 'kimlik'. To try and leave without it can result in a huge fine. All citizens must have a kimlik. Children can keep the same kimlik until their 16. After that you have to get a new one with a photo.
As for me, my son has both Turkish and Australian passports.
Btw Turkish courts normally see the mother as the prime care giver.
