Got another certificate from INTESOL introducotry course and 2 certificates from eurolink as just added extra while waiting.
I first got interested in this field from polish people that I met from camp america in the USA in Long Island new york state camp paquatuck. I discussed possible jobs in Poland and came across TEFL, sinc esince been back Have been researching an awful lot. E.G visited cactus TEFL open evening emailing around, phoned the college of etachers , phoned i to ie ct
By the way target lcoation is Torun, and yes there is a reaosn for this choice and that is that there is a polish girl here that i will see again. question= can anyone recommend the college of tachers as recognised in Poland?
question= What do the polish think of British? apart from stereotypes cos heard them all lol.
sorry if too long message. Reason for choosing Poland is very personal indeed, elts just save very touched by polish friends especially polish girl. called = Goska (Margeret i think in English) |

Best advice to you is to finish university and think about what to do after that when you're closer to finishing university. There's no point throwing your money away on companies like i to i. That 660 that you're giving them plus two months of your hard work (which has to be worth another 1000 even at a UK minimum wage job) is enough money to pay for 30 budget airline flights from the UK to Poland. |

its 400 but theres a discount to 348 right now and that 660 is to ELI programs not I TO I. Normally i would NOT pay that kinda money for such programs but what can i say im KEEN. |

You should see other programs. There are programs from I TO I and OTHER companies that charge somehting like 2000 for fees for only 2 WEEK n thats without travel money for leisure/ back up money.
im going with ELI mainly for having those 8 weeks experience to rpov that i am able to follow this TEFL career. So all in all its worth it. This May in Prague im taking a course with INTESOL TESOL course which is 150 hours long with 6 horus teaching practice and accred by COT, college of teachers.
As you can prob tell im getting all qualified plus experience before i start and finish university.
It is deffinately somehting im going to do when i finish. Id rather earn 500 pounds a month and earn double the lcola wage with low prices than earn 1000 pounds and pay UK prices. |

Seeing as theres three threads on this now, I might as well add to this one too.
You seem pretty determined to take this course, so Im not sure why Im trying to change your mind. Anyway, your justification for paying 400 quid is that other places charge 2000. A rip-off is still a rip-off. You dont need to pay ANY money AT ALL. Just use your noggin a little bit. Experience is always good, but these places are just using the fact that youre not experienced to milk you.
As a professional, I should say that its detrimental for the students to be taught by someone with no methodology, so companies like I to I are to be frowned upon, as are teachers who work for them. But if you want to learn the ropes before you commit to a qualification, theres plenty of schools out there that will give you the time to teach, and whom you wont have to pay 400 bones to for the priviledge.
By all means, do the qualification in Prague in the summer, but seriously, dont ever pay to be given a job. Poland is half price, and so are the wages, so earning 500 a month in Poland and paying 400 to do so is still mental compared to earning a grand in the UK and spending 2 quid a beer instead of one.
Considering you come from Hythe there's plenty of schools in the Folkestone and Dover area who will be more than happy to give you some experience (Im from Margate myself, so I know the area) |

So far i havent paid a dime yet for that 8 week experience, only the 4 week TESOL course which is EXTREMELY important.
As for CELTA/TRINITY arent they mainly for International house schools? Some ppl say get 4 week recog course by UK uni, COT ect and then 1 years experie3nce then take CELTA ect.
By the way can anyone shine some light on college of teachers accred, i know their legit a sive checked but some reconfirm wont hurt. |

A training course is very important but it's also very important that you take a course which is recognised by employers. Here in Poland that means either CELTA or Trinity. Other courses will leave you answering questions and trying to show that your course is as good as a CELTA/Trinity. Why not just do the course that employers want?
There is no point at all doing a four-week course and then a year later doing another four-week course. Just do the CELTA first! Don't pay twice.
You can do a CELTA here in Poland for 650. |

id say CELTA/TRINITY is more important for western Europe than Poland ect.
A degree is not eevn required really for TEFL jobs according to a CELTA tutor but I obviously will have 1 to cover msyelf but also need it anyway its a life saver.
Im leaving for Poland ASAP onc ei finish degree im talking instantly here.
I will take 1 advice that I got from someone here about sending CV in to a few people in Torun and then using I TO I as a last resort should nothing crop up.
I TO I for a profesional is deff a rip off but for a newbie I see it as a life saver ina few ways. 200 pounds would seem better. This pays for CV sending to your desired location and basically play the middle guy as you prob know anyway.
I know how VERY HIGH TEFL is in Poland n prob wont need them but still glad that it is there. I visited Torun once and I must fo walked past about 10 TEFL private schools. |
