Doesn't it just fit perfectly that the worst instance of terrorism in Japan was the Tokyo Sarin gas attack, carried out by...JAPANESE? The biggest threat to Japan are the Japanese themselves. |

Korea's been fingerprinting foreigners for at least the last 10 years.

Really?
I don't remember being fingerprinted when I went there 3 years ago
Unless you're talking about North Korea, which as a totaliatarian state is not up for discussion when talking about possible human rights infringements. |

I just found this quote in the Guardian on this issue:
Quote: |
Japan's cabinet will fingerprint and photograph foreigners aged over 16 when entering the country. |
Wow! I thought the cabinet would be busy doing other things.
Anyway, here's the link:

I should have qualified that with "fingerprinting foreigners getting work visas".
I've had 4 visas and been fingerprinted 3 times. I can only guess that I was not fingerprinted for my last visa because they finally determined that once on file was enough. Maybe they finally discovered fingerprints don't actually change over time.
