|
|
Hi All
Just wanted to know if anyone has any tips for re-applying to AEON. I managed to get through to the final stage last October in London but was rejected at the final interview stage.
I have to re-apply from scratch so
-Do i send in the same essay
-Prepare a different lesson plan
Just wanted to hear from anyone who has been in the same position.
Thanks!! |

You might like to re-read the question, it wasn't should I do this, it was how do I go about doing this.
I haven't gone through this myself but I would think that if your essay was good enough to get you through the first time it would be fine to reuse it, although you might want to make a change or too so that it isn't exactly the same and maybe you'll want to update it a little anyway.
As for the lesson plan, that's really up to you. I guess if you attended one interview already you had a chance to see other peoples ideas, maybe there were some that worked better than others so you could base a new plan around a similar idea.
Good luck!

Thanks PT.
I was just thinking that my essay still stands as i havent changed my reasons for wanting to go to Japan.
I think that if i get an interview (as im not sure why i was rejected last time, they didnt give a reason) then ill just do another lesson plan at least.
You never know, i could be in the same interviewers group.
I still want to hear from anyone who has been in the same situation. I will be applying to other schools too.
Thanks. |

I would like to point out a general tip for anyone who gets a company *P.F.O. after an interview. ALWAYS follow up. Call them and ask them directly why you weren't chosen for the position. I started doing this years ago, and people are generally quite surprised to hear that question -- they usually don't see it coming. But I've received a lot of constructive, positive feedback on how to improve my next interview. Always be polite, but it can be a real boost to learn from any mistakes or perceived shortcomings that the employer may have had, which prevented you from getting the job.
Usually, my speech goes something like this:
Hi, I just wanted to call you to thank you for your quick reply regarding the position with your company. I don't want to take up your time today, but since I'm still searching for work, I wonder if you could please tell me where I went wrong during the interview, and what I said or did that I wasn't able to get the job. If you can tell me, this will really help me in my future interviews...
*(PFO stands for: Please F*** Off)
P.S. Oh yeah, and as a footnote to that, I've actually had several companies call me back even months later asking if I was successful in finding a job -- presumably because their #1 candidate fell through for some reason... Although by then, I had always found something else so I was good... |

Generally I would agree with you on that one Jim but AEON were quite clear that 'no correspondance shall be entered into' with their unsuccessful candidates. It's been my experience that many larger companies will have a similar policy, of course if they don't say so then I would definitely follow up with them.

I understood the original post
And I'm giving him some honest advice: he should move on to another similar company rather than worry about Aeon. Unless he has some special reason for wanting to work with them. |

Not trying to get up your nose here but the OP asked for any tips for reapplying to AEON, the question was not, 'I was rejected by AEON what should I do?' As such I didn't feel that your answer really addressed the question.
I am sure that the OP has probably got good reasons for wishing to reapply to AEON. After all they have the best reputation, would you suggest that the OP just settle for NOVA? There aren't that many choices in London right now, ECC haven't recruited there in ages, I think most people leave NOVA as a last choice so that means you are down to two really, GEOS and AEON, therefore it is unsurprising that the OP wants to reapply to AEON. Is there 'some special reason' why you would advise against it?

Thanks Jim, but as PT pointed out Aeon specifically state that they dont give out reasons why they turn you down. I think i know where i went wrong in the last interview and just hope that this doesnt stop me from getting past the first stage this time round. |

And I'm not trying to 'get up your nose' either.
If I was rejected by Aeon I would not even consider re-applying. It is Aeon's loss and I'd spend my time working at another commercial language mill rather than worrying about 'what I did wrong the first time' with Aeon.
