After attending a TESOL certification course (November 2005 at Language House in Montpellier France) I am now back home in Chicago. I want more than anything else to gain ESL and TOEFL test prep teaching experience while here (intend to return to Europe eventually).
In addition to my newly acquired TESOL certificate, I have a BA (Psychology) from Michigan State University. I am 53 and retired (with an obvious desire to return to work).
I have sent out resumes and have even had a couple of interviews (one with Berlitz which I see from posts on this site is held in low regard by most). I use and review several ESL job websites including eslbase, eslz, esl job feed, etc.
So.. I guess I'm looking for any good advice as to where and how to look for those experiences that will allow to develop my skills as a teacher and serve as good references when I head back to Europe. |

how about persuing a Master's degree in Applied Linguistcs/TESL/etc. in Chicago with a focus on teaching. In the meantime, you could probably find work within the university teaching the foreign students. |

Would an alternative teacher's cert program be appropriate? |
