Does anyone know of whether NOVA or SAXONCOURT/SHANE is the better school to work for?
I know they both have poss and neg things, but it is my first teaching job and I have my reasons for working with them.
I am just looking for advice on whats the better company.

Steer clear of Shane/Saxoncourt. Despite the bad reviews you may have read about NOVA, NOVA is still far more reputable. |

I haven't worked for either of them, and don't want to either.... BUT... I think "bad" schools are only bad up to a point. The rest depends on your attitude. If you go in with a bad attitude, then yes you will have lots of problems and will probably think the company is very bad.
I'm not sure but I think a lot of the complaints people had about Shane were regarding the accomodation. As with anything, do your research and know what you're getting into. If you have unrealistic expectations, you will be bitterly disappointed and of course think that the school is bad. I'm guessing that the 78 000 that Shane is charging you, is higher than what they are paying for the apartment. If you're not happy with that, your other options are gaijin house or shelling about 400 000 yen up front to rent your own place.
So just be clear on what you are getting yourself into. That will minimize
the disappointment. |
