| Is there an age limit on getting good jobs in Taiwan? Do universities have an age limit on who they employ? Thanks. |

| No age requirement that is the law or anything, it depends on each employer preference....Universities usually require PhD's and there it would be more about qualifications rather than age. |

If you have grey hair, dye it away. Even though they can figure out your age from you diploma, it will still confuse the hell out of them.

If you are over 40 years old, you will have much less chance of working in Buxibans with kids.....Buxiban owners tell one that they prefer younger applicants because they are 'more dynamic and the kids prefer them'
You will be able to get jobs in language schools teaching adults, but the Buxiban jobs and other places catering to younger students are difficult to apply to because if you look middle aged you will face age discrimination in the hiring process, unfair as that may seem.
Been there, seen it, done it, and experienced it.

And yet there are schools who prefer experience and know-how. However, just being older doesn't immediately qualify one for the job. If you know how to do the job, you will find a job easily. If you're new to this thing, then you may face some problems.
If you have an open mind and are willing to learn--something that many young 'teachers' openly reject--you may have a step up on them. If you're willing to meet your employer's expectations, you'll probably do fine. |
