Hello Everyone,
I am planning my career of teaching English in Mexico and just wanted to see if anyone had some advice for me.
I plan on getting a Master's in Education and/or a CELTA certificate before embarking on this endeavor. I AM serious about being a teacher and want to make a long-term career out of it. I have studied Spanish for years, not fluent, but I have a pretty good proficiency. My husband would be going also and teaching also, so we would have a dual income. He is also a professional musician (in New Orleans for 10 years, where we lived before Katrina kicked us out!), so somewhat of a live music scene of ANY kind would be great.
I have "narrowed" my destinations down to 3 places. If you care to (I would greatly appreciate it), would you mind telling me what you think the pros and/or cons of each of these places are in regards to working! and living? Specifically: jobs prospects, cost of living (rent vs. wages), quality of life (cafes, live music, beauty, pedestrian-friendly, culture, relatively safe), distance to a big city and/or the coast or beaches, I could go on...
1. Cuernavaca
2. Guanajuato
3. Oaxaca City
FYI, I would have completely decided on Mexico City in my younger years, but now after NYC and Chicago, I am looking for something a little smaller. I am a big city girl at heart, though, so I may end up there in the future anyway.
Again, thank you so much!
