Hey - I thought Id be the one the announce/organize the next DF get-together. We talked before about going to Xochimilco, rent a boat and drink and eat. I think that its warm enough now not to freeze our "huevos" off.

Lets try for Sat March 25th. We can meet at the Tasquena Metro near the tren ligero entrance at 11:30 am (recommended for those who are not familiar with Xochimilco) and/or at the launch area at 12:15 ... lets try to head out at 12:30 (Gringo/ not Mexican time!).

While you can buy food there, I think a pot luck is in order. Those of us who can cook can ( I will... and it will be gringo food). Those who cant for whatever reason can bring booze and/or snacks. We can post what we would like to bring

T-datter - 7-layer dip and buffalo wings (hey I like to cook!)

I'm in...maybe not for the drunken part but at least for the revelry.

Here is Xochimilco for the uninitiated...

Perhaps someone can solve the longstanding mystery of Xochimilco. What exactly is the Tacamuqulchiqui?

Hey,

I know I'm not a regular contributor to this forum, but I actually do read it every day. Sorta interesting reading everyone's experiences working here in Mexico. Would anyone mind if I came along? I need to start meeting more people around here.
PM me if so.

There are a number of teachers working in DF that don't post here. They do lurk though. Wink I'm bringing some along.

Matt needs a drunken revelry I think too. Doncha Matt?

So, is everything set to go now? Any of the details finalized yet, such as time and place to meet? Pot luck? I don't cook but I could always bring something I can buy from somewhere around there. I'm open to suggestions as to what to bring.

I'll be getting to the Tren Ligero entrance a little earlier and wait there until 11:30 - official Mexico City time, not official Mexico time - with some others. Look around for a pack of gringos there, at the ticket turnstiles (sp?).

You know you've been living in Mexico long enough when you can add this:

DONT FORGET THE LIMONES! Laughing

Limonsito, limonsito, donde andas?

I volunteer to bring the limonsitos. Oh and a bottle opener.

Word has it that Yeoman Thelmadatter is going to regale us with her extensive knowledge of ancient sea shanties.

As I was a-walking down Paradise Street,
To me way-aye, blow the man down!
A Liverpool bobby I chanced for to meet,
Give me some time to blow the man down!

Says he, "You're a Blackballer by the cut of your hair;
To me way-aye, blow the man down!
I know you're a Blackballer by the clothes that you wear.
Give me some time to blow the man down!

"You've sailed in a packet that flies the Black Ball,
You've robbed some poor Dutchman of boots, clothes and all."

"O policeman, policeman, you do me great wrong;
I'm a `Flying Fish' sailor just home from Hongkong!"

They gave me six months in Liverpool town
For kicking a p'liceman and blowing him down.

Saw a totally different part of Xochimilco I'd never seen before. The canal system there is massive! Too bad about the rain yesterday.

Three cheers to Thelmadatter's 7 layer dip. I never did get to the bottom two layerss.

I have a few other pics but would need permission to post them.
