A friend of mine recently had an unfortunate experience with International House. Lies and poor direction from female middle management. Preference for females.
Has anyone had simliar experience?
He was pretty disgusted with the traetment he received.
any other opinions? |

i now unerstand he was hired on a 6 month contract, but he was fired after two. apparently they had someone else ( a girlie) in mind for the job, but they were not available when the contract began. so he was kept on only as a temp, but they didnt tell him. then he was fired when the replacement girl was available.
aaah the old girls club routine. unfortunate that esl mid management is dominated by no talent females. is a unique industry really, in that you dont need management skills to be a DOS. actually i never met a female in esl that had any business skills whatsoever.
well done International House Brisbane |

Wow. You know, it's one thing to complain about a bad school or whatever, but you seem to have a real hate-on for all women in general. What's the story? Did you get burned by an ex-girlfriend?
I've worked for lots of different people, some men, some women. I can't say as I ever saw any gender-based difference; some of both sexes were great and some were terrible. |

Perhaps someone can say something nice about International House Brisbane.
Lets hear from long term teachers who love it there.
Great pay, great environment. |

Not this outfit, but another big one in Australia. Female managers who seemed fine to me. Female teachers: only 6 men to about 50 women. Again, I had no complaints, and all in my office were great people. But no promise of a contract extension, despite excellent peer and student assessments.
It turned out I got a much better offer [English Colleges the world over paid crap] and took it.
That place had the best students ever though: adult refugees who really understood this second chance they were getting.
The owners of the school were quite upfront about prefering females. Semi-retired and women with a working partner were far more reliable than ambitious men, looking for other jobs.
Ce'st la vie. |

Those students sound great.
Could make teaching worthwhile.
Good comments about management. It's reality. |
