I'm working in Wroclaw this year (don't want to say where) and am thinking about switching schools next year. Does anyone know which schools in Wroclaw treat teachers the most decently as far as pay, getting paid on time, not getting ripped off, etc...

PS: I know they all pretty much suck... I just want to know which are the best of the worst...

IH are the most reliable and secure but the wages are low. I have known people who work for Hilton on the Rynek and they have no complaints but I don't know how much they're paid.

Capital/Hilton. No competition.

What about LEKTOR, I got a summer offer from them and I want to know if I'm wasting my time going to meet them...?

Thanks.

I don't think you can go far wrong with I.H. if you want training, good experience, reliability and job security. If you want money then look elsewhere but you're less likely to get the above.

If I go to IH in Wroclaw and earn a CELTA would I have a good chance for work in Poland? What are the average fees like? Is IH Wroclaw a good choice..If so, why?

I got my CELTA there last year and was offered jobs by 3 companies in Wroclaw but none of them seemed particularly well suited. There were no spaces at the time at I.H. Wroclaw so I moved to another I.H. school. People may disagree but I.H. has one of the best reputations in the world of TEFL and from people I have spoken to and from what I've read Wroclaw I.H. for training especially is up at the top of I.H. training centres. Get a CELTA from I.H. Wroclaw and you should get work anywhere at most major places in Poland with a reputable company.

A CELTA (Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults or something like that) isn't a degree. It's a four week course, with four assignments and practice teaching sessions. As well as small group seminar type things where you are taught some of the many theories and practicalities of teaching. My CELTA cost just under 700 pounds (U.K.) or around 3,800 Polish zloty's. It's quite hard and you might get a bit vexed bit it makes you much more prepared for the teaching to follow.

I can also recommend doing a CELTA with IH Wrocław. The school and staff were very supportive and Rob Dean, the DOS, is a great guy.

I agree with the above. That's why I'm going back there, to work this time, in September, can't wait.

The best schools in my experience are British Centre and Felberg. I also find the business schools here seem to be, well, more business like.

I'd strongly advise anyone to stay clear of Oxford House - they have 4 schools around Wroclaw, all run from their central school in Ul. Kotlarska.
