Have you seen this ad?

I think its funny, but then, I'm not looking for a job. I'm not sure if I'd apply or not. When I was 23, probably, now, probably not. I imagine it makes a fairly effective filter, but is it the right filter? It sure wouldn't be for my current job. I wonder if its working well for them.

I dunno; it reads like he's trying more than a little too hard to be hip without posting even the most basic information for the school. |

He's like one of those star trek nerds only for English stuff. Trying to be funny but kinda being a obsessive weirdo with obscure cultist references. |

and yet, I'll bet the ad attracts exactly the right person they want to teach. |

They had an ad posted several months back, when I was still looking, and it was only moderately odd. Still gave some basic details about the school, enough that I think I actually submitted my CV. Now, though?!?!? No way. Their little parenthetical statements ("such-and-such a person will get this reference") are kind of snobby.

Is 'cake' some sort of reference to cocaine? Perhaps the writer of the ad has indulged in a little too much coca tea. That would explain everything. |

I have no doubt that they will attract their ideal worker, a flaky, snobbish, unprofessional "teacher". Professionals care about such mundane things as school resources, salary and teaching conditions.
I disagree that the job ad was light on information, some things that I read in the job ad:
- Your DOS is flaky and has weird ideas, his local boss asked him to find a new teacher, but the DOS has no idea what a professional teacher is.
- No mention of salary is made so we can assume that the pay is not important, ie very low.
- You will be sharing a room with other flaky people. |
