I follow a really low carb diet due to diabetes type II being in the family; does anyone manage that in Taiwan? Is there low carb and sugar free chocolate and lollies there? Is it poss to get skewers of barbecue meat at food stalls? How about eggs- are they pricey and born to miserable battery hen specimens and there fore choka full of bad karma? (please say no!!)
I arrive April 4 and am trying to decide wether to load up on hundreds of bars of Cadbury lite before I come.

There are diabetics here, so you shouldn't have a big prob. Straight away, go to a doctor and ask how you can manage it. Without insurance the fee should be about NT$1000. I'll try to PM you my doc so you know an English-speaking physician right off the bat.

You can buy Atkins bars at Jason's supermarket in Taipei (two branches: Tien Mu & Taipei 101 bldg). They're NT$135 a pop so... Coincidentally I went to both in the last 3 days so they're both alive & running, don't worry. There's a GFS chain that specializes in fitness supplements too, for protein shakes. I buy whey powder at a "normal" grocer, Sun-Made in Tien Mu. It's also sold at Jason's. Starbuck's is the most relaiable coffeehouse for Equal, but most have fructose syrup.
