Im a current graduate student working on my MA in TESL. I would like to work in Italy starting Fall 2007. I've read through several of the discussion board questions and I get the impression that wages run from 700-900 Euros/ month, contracts last for no longer than 2 years (and are subject to change), and EU passports are required in some instances. As an American, I know I can't get an EU passport, but I do know that jobs are available...if I know where to look. That's where my delema comes in. Personally, Id like to find a job that pays at least 1200 Euros/ month, that's in a relatively safe town and is with a company that's reliable. If anyone could move me in the right direction, I would greatly appreciate it.

I don't wish to dampen your enthusiasm, but I suspect anybody who knows such a situation will keep it to themselves. Once again the absence of an EU passport will be your biggest issue, and although plenty of Americans find work it isn't in jobs similar to the one you describe!

The problem is not that you don't have an EU member state passort; but that it is illegal mfor you to work in the EU without a work permit, which, as an American, you are extremely unlikely to get to teach EFl .

Bearing this in mind any company that employs you would be doing so illegally, and are unlikely to be reliable.
