hi, i have a master's degree in social work, 20 years social work experience and various other work experience including real estate and sales, a 4 week tefl, and i like teaching all ages. i've done some tutoring and taught a screenplay writing class at a community college. i can afford to spend $3000 or $4000 for set up costs. what route did you take? what one do you recommend? i want to work in the taipai area----or someplace north because i don't like really hot weather. on the coast might be really nice. and i would really prefer a less poluted city or town. and i would like to be able to save some money (but don't have expensive tastes). i'm 50 and i'm aware that there is ageism, but i really do look younger than i am so i thought coming in person to apply might help.
any advice would be appreciated. my ideal time to start work would be september or october as my son will be home from college this summer. i could come ahead for a job hunting trip. i went to mexico for a job i got through a recruiter and.....i wish i hadn't. i stayed a month and loved the teaching, but i didn't get paid enough to live on and there were other problems with the school administrators and the teacher apartment. that's why getting a job after i get there is appealing. so i can check out things ahead.
please help! p.m. me if you would like.

Perhaps more than ageism there is punctuationism.

Some schools will reject you outright if you punctuate like that. However, if you don't punctuate like that on your resume and you know what you are doing, age may never come into question. Most of the parents in my school would prefer someone over thirty and wouldn't reject
anyone beyond that if they had the necessary energy in class and were genuinely interested in teaching. I feel silly offering advice on sending out resumes to someone with much more experience than I have, but I am one of those who reject resumes that come in with bad grammar, incorrect punctuation, etc.

You shouldn't have much trouble finding a job if you take a serious approach.

I'm only offering advice. I'm not preaching. I've just received too many resumes with bad punctuation, etc. These things are taken into account by some employers, so beware.
