How much travel is reasonably possible on a limited budget (throughout Asia)? For instance, is there any cheap means (bus, train, etc.) of getting from Bangkok to Inda, Nepal, etc.? Is it prohibitively expensive to go see the Great Wall of China during a week off from classes? |

India and Beijing are absurdly far places to travel from Thailand overland, so the short answer is no. But there are low-cost airlines which will take you to various places in southeast Asia and China- check out the websites for Air Asia and Bangkok Airways. The latter will take you as far as Hangzhou or Xi'an in China, which are both splendid places. |

Overland travel from Thailand to India through Burma is not possible.
If you are on a tight budget I suggest looking at places closer to Thailand, especially Laos and Cambodia which can easily be reached by bus or train. Also don't forget there are many interesting places to travel in Thailand and if you avoid some of the major tourist traps travel can be very cheap.
If you want to see the Great Wall you need to fly all the way to Beijing. Destinations in Southern China are closer and much cheaper to fly to (e.g. Air Asia to Macau or Xiamen). |
